Challenge
BobRivers.com has evolved from a simple website in
1996 to its current state as a full-fledged
communications platform geared toward listeners of the
Bob Rivers show on KZOK-FM. The latest revision of the
site needed to fully merge what were once two separate
sites and streamline all the backend code that runs the
site. We also wanted to reorganize the main content
areas that allow visitors to view / hear previous shows’
audio clips, and improve the search functions on the
site. Finally, we needed to give the site a graphical
facelift while keeping the design in service to the
website.
Solution
Intune developed a new site that made use of bright
colors and photos of the staff and logos of the show and
the station displayed prominently to aid in bolstering
the site’s marketing goals. Content on the site was made
easier to find via chronological and alphabetical
directories as well as free-form searches. Typestyles
for content were improved to enhance readability. Some
new ‘sticky’ content was added to the site, including
random facts about show members, listings of recent
audio clips and a refined site navigation.
Website visitors can email stories, songs and audio clip
suggestions to friends using the ‘send to a friend’
feature. A new custom audio player was developed, which
displays additional suggested content for visitors to
view. Enhancing viral marketing, time spent on the site
and usability were all factors addressed in the new
design.
